NCC NATIONAL GAMES 2014

                                                              CLOSING CEREMONY   

Lt Gen Aniruddha Chakravarty, VSM, DG NCC reviewed an impressive march past presented by the ‘Young Custodians of the Nation’ at the Garrison Parade Ground, Delhi Cantt marking an end to the eleven days long NCC National Games – 2014.

The ceremony was a grand spectacle of pageantry marked with precision, a vibrant expression of pulsating energy kindling each heart with pride. The NCC cadets presented a true picture of aspirational India, on their journey to becoming worthy empowered citizens with sound values inculcated by a common powerful binding force – ‘NATIONAL CADET CORPS’. NCC-Sports-2014The NCC National Games has it’s genesis in the year 1997 when they were held as part of the NCC Golden Jubilee Celebrations. In the subsequent years, the format was changed to the conduct of different games at the regional levels.
Since the year 2013, the games are being conducted in a centralized format at Delhi, aiming to provide the talented sportsmen among the cadets feel of a major sporting event and preparing them with the requisite match temperament and furthering their sporting careers.
The games conducted by the Directorate General of NCC were attended by nearly 2000 Cadets from 17 State Directorates representing all the States and Union Territories and participating in eight sports disciplines which commenced from 08 Oct 2014 at various stadiums in the national capital.
The Closing ceremony commenced with hundreds of young blossoming cadets performing a scintillating display of Cheer Leaders Dance and a choreographed dance display with the theme ‘Dance for India’. Thereafter, a thrilling and daring display by the ‘Dare Devils’ – Motor Cycle Display Team and the Para-motors from the Indian Army kept the audience spell bound.
This was followed by a smart march past by the participating sportsmen formed in  17 Directorate contingents led by cadets mounted on their stallions carrying the National, Services and the NCC Flag symbolizing ‘Unity and Integration’.
The Chief guest then presented the winners trophies for each event of the NCC Games -2014 and the Overall Champions trophy to West Bengal & Sikkim Directorate.
In his address to the Cadets, Lt Gen A Chakaravarty, VSM, DG NCC and complimented the entire fraternity of the NCC for the impressive conduct of the NCC National Games. He acknowledged the vital role and commitment of NCC to groom the future leaders which is the need of the hour.
