“The Adidas Uprising”

Indian Mountaineering Foundation on 13th December, 2015, Sunday came up with an exciting event ‘The Adidas Uprising’ providing a platform for the Delhites to enjoy some of the adventure based sports out of their monotonous and busy life. The event attracted much of the youth along with the presence of some eminent personalities like Lt. Col. Ranveer Jamwal and Maibam Chigkheinganba, the gold medallist in Speed at the Asian Youth Champainship.
There was a sequence to the whole event. The foremost was the rope sliding, which was too much of fun because it doesn’t require any of your strength; you just slide down with the help of your weight. The next was the tunnel crawling which required a lot of strength and technique to do. Then, there was this inward wall having stones & marks on them & we had to just the use the marked stones to move along the wall. It was the toughest among all & many of the amateurs hardly could move a step, but their efforts were appreciable. After that was the pole balancing, which was another remarkable adventure, though a tough one seeming to be easy enough. The other sports in the sequence were the net climbing and the rope bridge, which were quite an easy one & filled with thrill & fun. Then there was the ladder bridge which was situated on a small pond & required a lot of focus & balance to cross it off. Finally the last & most amazing sport was the ‘Giant Wall Climbing’, which was though very much tiresome till then, but the encouragement by the crowd was amazing to boost the climbers with enough enthusiasm.
And as we say, ‘hardwork pays off’ & so did this. Everyone who completed & participated in this amazing adventure sports got a medal of appreciation from the Adidas Uprising & also some refreshments to enlighten them up for their activities.

The International Red cross Society : Serve Humanity.

“ If you cannot give a life, you can save a life.” says the International  Red Cross society which is a humanitarian movement with approximately 97 million volunteers, members and staff worldwide. It was founded to protect human life and health.

This organisation is based on the fundamental principles of humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality.

In an interaction with one of the members, a trained psycho specialist and a vocal person for North east state, Tanya , we got to know about human psychology. She told us that every human being accumulates stress  due to daily life activities  and this level goes on increasing with time. The only solution to overcome this is to ‘know yourself’. Once you start learning about your strengths and weaknesses ,you can easily find a solution to any problem you face.

Another member of the organisation who is a doctor discussed about the steps involved to fight an emergency situation.  The first step is Don’t panic followed by team work and co-ordination
.

This session with the members of the IRCS at the Indian Mountaineering Foundation was extremely informative and made us aware of what all we can do as an individual to serve the society.
