Blogging Matters!!! : 'Insight' the 'Olympics' [Part 3]

Day 27.
Alright fellas, the 3rd and final part in this series is here. I've thrown light upon the Ancient and Modern Olympics, in the antecedent parts and tonight I'll try and manifest the Marketing side of the Olympics.
So, without further adieu let's kick things off.

The Business -
  • As far as the professional sports are concerned, they are all about business.
  • The Olympic games are without a shadow of a doubt, the greatest sporting event of modern times.
  • As the Modern Olympics are, to a large extent based on the Ancient Games, it becomes crucial to delve into the Ancient Olympics.
  • The Olympic Business is a mixture of organizations, who wield a settled amount of power and have to co-exist to stage the Olympics.
The Olympic Brand -
  • Today, Olympics have manifested themselves into a 'Brand', and a new term has been coined, i.e. the 'Olympic Brand.'
  • It also has some spheres for development and tweaks that will permit its astounding growth to continue.
The Marketing -
  • The concept of 'economic globalization' has emerged in recent times and this concept has turned into a trend in itself.
  • Olympic Marketing is a global practice involving MNC's and is a part of the trend I just mentioned.
  • The primary sources of revenue of this marketing are :-
  • (a.) Television Rights, (b.) Sponsorship, (c.) Licensing, (d.) Coins, and (e.) Tickets.
  • A point is often raised by the critics, that Commercialism has turned the Olympics into an enterprise only for full-time athletes, professionals in reality, if not in name.
I won't dwell into the last point I made about the criticism right now, but yes, I'll bring it up in one of my blogs later. As I believe, we also need to understand the negatives of any topic that we discuss.
Having said that, I bring to closure, the 3 part series about the Olympics - the games, their history, politics and the business. Hope you enjoyed reading these parts and understood, the whole concept of these games.
Please write down your suggestions, queries, or whatever, below.
Thanks For Reading.

Blogging Matters!!! : 'Insight' the 'Olympics' [Part Deux]

Day 26.
Welcome to Part 2 of this series. Hope you people read and liked the first part. And, like I said yesterday, that this part would be germane to the 'Modern Olympics' and the multifarious realms colligated with them. So, lets kick-off tonight's sojourn.

The History -
  • Modern Olympic Games are, ''a modern sports festival held traditionally every 4 years.'' (Oxford Dictionary).
  • These games were worked into lather by the Frenchman, Baron de Coubertin in 1896.
  • The first Olympics of modern times were held in Athens, Greece in 1896.
  • The Games are held in the first year of a 4 year period, known as 'Olympiad'.
The Politics -
  • This platform was used for promoting other issues. Coubertin realised that if he reorganises the Olympic Games, it could be a platform for peace and development.
  • Until there is political stability, you cannot organize the games.
  • In 1936, the Berlin Games were used by the Nazi regime to bolster its image. So, these games were used as a means to exert political pressure.
The Entertainment Value -
  • The modern games transmit entertainment values via sports like - athletic races, swimming, wrestling, etc.
  • These values also tot up a cardinal element to the social change.
  • They pitch in by enhancing the national identity and pride and mobilize social support for state- projects.
  • The white-class or the white-working class were persuaded by the entertainment value of these games, as they made up the large spectatorship at these events.
Alright Readerland, this is the end of part 2 and hope you find the blog elucidative.
Now your turn to comment. Write what you reckon are the other interesting facts of the different realms colligated with these games ?
Thanks For Reading.

Blogging Matters!!! : 'Insight' the 'Olympics' [Part 1]

Day 25.
This right here, ladies and gents, is the 25th back-to-back blog of Blogging Matters!!! and I am buoyed up to take this series to another 25.

Well, tonight begins a 3 part series about the Olympics. I'll strive to help you soak up the history, politics, commerce and the sports itself, all knit together with the Olympics. However  the epicentre of all this would be the Entertainment Value. I'll break the ice of tonight's part with Ancient Olympics -

The History -
  • The origin of Ancient Games is shrouded in mystery and legend.
  • Ancient Olympic Games were, "ancient Greek festival with athletic, literary, and musical competitions.''(Oxford Dictionary).
  • Myths show that Heracles and his father Zeus, were the originators of the Games.
  • The games were done away with by the Roman Emperor, Theodosius I in 393 AD.
The Politics -
  • A series of competitions were held betwixt the assignees or representatives of several city-states and kingdoms from Ancient Greece.
  • During these games, all struggles against the partcipating city-states were pigeonholed until the games culminated.
  • Olympia was a place where political ententes were harbingered.
The Entertainment Value -
  • The Entertainment Value was in the games, which featured mainly athletic events.
  • Along with sports, they had music, drama, dance and poetry.
  • However, the cardinal value according to the myths, was to trot out, the appreciation for Zeus and his creation.
This is the end of Part 1. Tomorrow, I'll talk about the Modern Olympics and explain it through the realms of history, politics and of course, entertainment value.
Your turn Readerland. Tell me what you think are the other entertainment values colligated with the Ancient Olympics? You can even talk about the politics or even the negative points of these games.
Thanks for Reading.

Thought Of The Day : - "Say the truth, even if it may be bitter."

Advertising in F1(Indian Grand Prix)

The TRPs may not compare with cricket but F1 is a potent marketing opportunity.According to Sam Balsara,CEO of Madison,"F1 as a concept has tremendous appeal for young, modern, dynamic and fast paced companies. They want to appeal to people with the same characteristics and F1 offers that platform. The TRPs may be miniscule but exposure will be very high."That's pretty much what convinced Airtel to pitch for the Indian Grand Prix.
Airtel CEO Sanjay Kapoor said"Brand Airtel and F1 is similar,as they both stand for freshness, youth and dynamism.Given the demographics, this is a sport that will be very relevant for India and more so given the 14% growth of the $40 billion sports marketing business(sports, sports entertainment, sponsorships and sports goods retailing) in the country.

TRPs

F1 is about association, an opportunity to engage with the potential consumer, rather than sheer exposure. That is part of a growing trend in the advertising world where the chain has moved from exposure to engagement.Which also explains the money pouring into a sport that still doesn't boast top gear TRPs.According to Anamika Mehta, branch head Lodestar,Delhi:"Typically, the target group is the 15-24 year old and the TRPs for a F1 race is between 6 and 8 against 2 of a home series test match."
The low TRPs mean that there would a lot less money involved when it comes to advertising and more below the line marketing for the event. At any rate when it comes to advertising inventory the Indian feed is only about 600 seconds and a good part of that will be retained by ESPN for pricing it at a premium closer to the event. For now, though, the price of a 10 second ad is roughly Rs 1-1.2 lakh, which is double that of cricket. However, unlike cricket, the duration of advertising is limited since there are no ads in the middle of the race.

Formula One World Feed Broadcast Needs a Face Lift

Formula One, the pinnacle of motorsport, gets its reputation by being one of the most technologically advanced and expensive sports in the world.
It is a playground for innovation and often sets the pace for developments in the automobile industry worldwide.
There is no doubt that it isn't just the drivers who are racing, but everyone else involved in the sport too. Everyone else, except the powers at be behind the broadcasting.
Rarely is the F1 fan graced with more information beyond the typical lap time comparisons and the occasional team radio transmission; and even that information fails to capture what is happening in all areas of the race.
We have been teased with graphic displays like the g-force meter, or the speed/gear/KERS indicator, but they do not show up nearly enough.
I have counted two times this season, the use of the replay depicting two drivers' ghosts for line comparison. These are all features that should appear during every practice, qualifying session, and race regularly!
We should have access to more team radio transmissions as the ones that we get are obviously pre-screened and delayed in many cases. There should be longer onboard shots, more stats, as we all know there is no shortage of in F1.
If there is one thing that the powers at be for F1 broadcasting have gotten right, it is the minimalistic design for their stats displays, but the lack of their use forces local channels to make stats displays of their own.
These often go far beyond simplistic and cover up the screen, leaving any viewer absolutely livid.
The SPEED channel is great at blocking up the tele with oversized and overly busy displays for extended periods of time. I don't want to see an animated F1 car over a massive red banner covering up 30 percent of the track.
On various occasions, such displays mask the team radio graphic causing the announcers to unknowingly speak over the already scarce radio transmissions!
Formula 1 officials have the money, they have the tools, they are looking to spice up the entertainment value in F1...

Blogging Matters!!! : Kerry, Cricket and Commerce

Day 24.

Hello and Good-Evening my Internet Reading Community.
Tonight's blog will be modelled on the lines of the Commercialization of Cricket at the hands of a man called, Kerry Packer.
Kerry Packer (1937-2005) -
  • Packer was an Australian media mogul.
  • He was known for his galling and caustic persona, his opulence, his uncurbed gambling frame of mind, his up-market business territory and his altercations with the Australian Taxation Office.
  • He is also reminisced for being the God-Father of World Series Cricket, which I'll talk about in the latter part.
Metamorphosis of Cricket -

  • The words, ''Cricket'' and ''Commerce'' were alien to each other, till 1977.
  • The sport had a proper place in 'gentlemen', whilst terms like 'sponsors/sponsorship', 'annual contracts', were undreamt of.
  • Kerry Packer's World Series Cricket, which originated in 1977, circumvented the national allegiance in the name of 'media-entertainment' and 'expeditious economic gains' for the cricketers.
  • Packer had the capital to sign on the sport's first-rate players for his own ends and in the process, he ameliorated the game.
  • Cricket, revolutionized from being an amateur sport to being a professional sport. And, players from countries like; England, Australia, Pakistan and West Indies, were quick to see its appeals.
That's all folks, for tonight. Hope you got some inkling about the man (Kerry Packer) and what he has done for the game. I know, that there are several other facts related to the life and times of Kerry Packer, but I just wanted to make sure that this blog remains a blog and not a column/essay.
So, write what you feel are other beneficial bequests of this infamous personality, to the game, to the business of this game.
Thanks for Reading.

Formula 1 Marketing(Indian Grand Prix)

There are no confirmations from companies on the figures, sources in the Indian Grand Prix circuit say title sponsor Airtel has spent around Rs. 30 crore for three seasons spread over three years. Alongside Airtel, the other big sponsors include Red Bull(which will bring everything from its aero models to its bikers and all that they have in the name of adventure to India by September end),UB group(which owns Force India and is the only Indian team in F1),Mercedes Benz,Shell,Renault,Castrol,JK Tyre,Vodafone,Tag Heuer,Helix. Many companies that haven't signed up as official sponsors are now joining the fray in a slightly different capacity.Hero Motors, for instance, has signed up with Narain Karthikeyan who will drive his Hispania car at the Indian Grand Prix.

TICKETS
The track owners JPSI has spent $400 million on building the track and stadium alone.Given that there are around 100000 odd tickets for sale-already the lowest denominations, worth Rs.2500 and Rs.6000 are sold out, says Sameer Gaur,MD of JPSI-the gate money should be in the region of around Rs.1000 crore. The platinum boxes, worth Rs.50 lakh, have been booked by corporates like Citi,Venky's.Kingfisher and JK Tyre not to mention some of the top business names in the country.Top of that heap though will be the box gang opposite the grand stand with a cool tag of Rs 1 crore.Of course even with all our billions you may still not be eligible for the Paddock club, the most exclusive club in the F1 firmament.Entry costs $4500 apiece but just buying a ticket doesn't ensure you are chosen-that's left to Bernie Ecclestone and the boys who run FOM(Formula One Management)to scan your application and then take a call.
It's not just tickets which are disappearing;even hotel rooms in vicinity are sold out.

greek gods and their varied employment

GREEK mythology that is the body of myths and legends about the ancient Greek people....comprises of either Greek GODS like titans,Apollo,Zeus or Greek HEROES like Achilles,Oedipus,Odysseus...

The new strategies will be tested in national camps, according to SAI director general DD Verma. An ambitious project by any yardstick,Verma feels India ought to have taken this step a while back.According to him, foreign professionals in specialized fields such as physiology and recovery will be appointed.

Blogging Matters!!! : Punching the Entertainment Value

Day 23.
Hello and good-evening my co-bloggers. Tonight, I will strive to delineate the sport of Boxing and the Entertainment Value affiliated with it.
Boxing :- the sport of fighting with the fists, especially with padded gloves in a roped square ring according to prescribed rules. (Oxford Dictionary).
The Origin -
  • Boxing is often sought as, the most ancient of all sports, if we are to abide by the definition of boxing as 2 people starkly fighting with their fists, even though fighting in such mode has a historical background, then we have to accept it as most antique sport.
  • In the later half of the 20th century, boxing refashioned from amateur to professional sport, as rules and regulations came into play.
I won't dwell much further into the origins, but will focus on the sport's entertainment value. But, there are some alludes for those who can mark the evolution of this game in the following paragraph.
Entertainment Value -
  1. The common entertainment elements are grounded in the game itself which made it so sought-after sport, especially in Great Britain.
  2. The Aristocracy and Gentry indulged, by arrogating an effective say in the game.
  3. The standardization and regulation of the sport, was the follow-up of the aiding of Aristocrats. This also toned down the game's entertainment element, which is violence.
  4. There is a constant remonstration that there is no Sporting Value in Boxing, but it is the canonized vehemence and violence which forms a part of its Entertainment Value.
  5. Today, Boxing has too much regulation, but people want to witness someone getting hurt. Today, if a boxer bleeds, then on the spot medics interfere and halt the fight.
Boxing, is one of the most lugubrious sports in history. It overwhelms (the drama) the very distinction it portrays, more than any other venture. And, as I have often said before, that active sports having Entertainment Value are the ones which are more sought after. Maybe relaxing the regulations, will once again increase the diminishing entertainment value of this sport.
Thanks For Reading.

Blogging Matters!!! :'My 5ive' - 5 Gladiator Movies with Entertainment Value

Day 22.
Another waggish picture, I have posted above. Boy, I am getting good at this. Ok, it's Sunday today and as I do on weekends, I've settled to do another one of those 'best 5 things' which I have done in the past also. So, without further ado let's look at the top 5 Gladiatorial Movies and the Entertainment Value fused in them. Afterall, I can't veer much away from our course.

5.) Alone Against Rome (1962) -
This Italian-based  movie was directed by Luciano Ricci and stars Lang Jeffries as Brenno who winds up as a Gladiator and organises a resistance to terminate the Tribune's hegemony of enslavement. The movie is known for its delectable art and its tickety-boo combat scenes. The film was made with low budget, but still manages to present plenty of spectacles for gladiatorial fight lovers.

4.) Gladiators 7 (1962) -
This is the story about Darius (Richard Harrison), who is the son of a renowned Spartan, and is entangled in the getaway of five other slaves/gladiators. Directed by Pedro Lagaza, Gladiators 7 manages to put up a fair deal of swordplay, hand to hand fights and also uses real acrobats as Spartans to show the sword fighting, which make it look impressive, even with a pretty decent budget.

3.) Demetrius and the Gladiators (1954) -
Directed by Delmer Daves, Demetrius and the Gladiators, has its spur in the performance of its cast, especially the minor characters and the stitching on equal cutting of its display. Demetrius, played by Victor Mature, is a former-slave and a born-again Christian who gives up his faith to fight against Emperor Caligula. This $4.5 million historical epic is one of the finest Gladiator movie produced in the decade of '50's.

2.) Spartcaus (1960) -
A massive rebellion against the doughty Romans is carried out by Spartacus (Kirk Douglas), a Thracian slave who later on turns Gladiator. The performances in this film are almost flawless. The movie earned 6 Oscar Award nominations, for its noteworthy savage gladiator scenes in the Colosseum. Particularly, exceptional is the scene in which Crassus asks to be entertained by the view of two pairs combating to death. Overall, a solid adventure story.

1.) Gladiator (2000) -
It is often said that, if you cannot feel something for the dramatis persona (in a movie), then the viewer is lost.
Luckily, for this film it's probably the first Roman epic ever produced, where the viewer is made to develop the sensory impact of being in a Colosseum or an amphitheatre. The movie features Russel Crowe as Maximus, a general-turned-slave-turned-gladiator, who seeks his revenge upon Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix), in the Roman Colosseum. The special-effects, acting and most importantly the sheer savagery of gladiatorial combats, make this film nothing, but breath-taking.

The productivity of gladiators, is calibrated by the Entertainment Value they develop, per unit of stretch they spend on the battle field. The more a director can show the savagery of these combats in his/her film, the higher the chances are of the audience getting the Entertainment Value.
Alright folks, that was the 'My 5ive' list of top-5 gladiator movies with entertainment value. Speaking soundly, I've seen only 3 out of these 5 movies. My list is drawn with the research I did and I tried to list only those movies which I reckon, have the Entertainment Value blended in them.
So Readerland, tell me what you think of the list and also the movies which you have seen or are planning to watch.
Thanks For Reading.

Blogging Matters!!! : Hunting The Entertainment Value

Day 21.
Now, fellas what you have above, is indeed a side-splitting picture. But the topic for deliberation tonight is a weighty one. Yes, as my title for tonight suggests, I am talking about the Sport of Hunting and the Entertainment Value affiliated with it.
As soon as human beings learned to put into operation, the unadorned weapons, they started 'hunting.'
Before I advance, let's have a glance, as to what Oxford Dictionary has to say about Hunting.
Hunting : Pursuing and killing (a wild animal) for sport or food. (Oxford Dictionary).
Now lets understand how hunting consorts with entertainment and sport -
  • The first point to retain is that sports possessing "Entertainment Value" have a settled sway in the swelling commercial terra of sport and recreation.
  • The crucial word in Entertainment is, 'enjoy'.
  • Entertainment Value lends a hand in enrapturing the audience's heed.
  • Hunting, today has become a polemical affair, as it is gazed upon as a recreation or a recreational endeavour, the people's disposition for animals is mutating.
  • Organizations like PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) have come to the surface for animal rights.Well, I won't dwell much into that, as I have to be upheld with the title.
Hunting and Sport -
  • Like I mentioned above that, humans have been hunting for food and they have been doing so since, maybe the prehistoric times. But, within the past few centuries, 'hunting for sport' has ripen into being a more run-of-the-mill thing.
  • Sportsmen were often affluent and formidable persons, when hunting as a sport came into being.
  • Why hunting? Well, many people consider it, as a poignant and pathetic act to do, but hunters enjoy hunting. The reason is what my title denotes, i.e. 'Entertainment Value'.
  • Killing a tiger is exciting as it gives a hunter experience, which he cannot get, watching a wildlife channel. But, going out and watching it for yourself is what makes their heart pump faster. Coming very near to a tiger will give them the Entertainment Value, they're looking for.
  • Another vital point is that the mayhem rate in hunting, is trimmed than that of other forms of Entertainment like; Soccer, Rugby, etc.
Alright fellas, I bring to a halt, tonight's blog. Everything said above is from the perspective of hunters and hunting as a sport and I don't want my impressions be known as there are people who can speak of the merits as well as demerits, which will in turn veer us from the main topic of Entertainment Value.
So, read it, analyse it and do post your comments below. Thanks for Reading.

Blogging Matters!!! : The Globalization of Sports - A Prelude

Day 20.
We have amongst us a peculiar, yet quintessential subject to deliberate over. I am talking anent the subject of Globalization and Sports. First let's try and understand the purport of the locution - Globalization.
Globalization - Globalization is a procedure of integration and interaction among the public, corporates, and government of varying nations, a system driven by international business and investment and assisted by Information Technology.
To put it austerely, Globalization is the headway of the collaboration and cooperation of humans across national frontiers. Globalization means that corporations, who are globally spry, can engage in a pivotal capacity in carving society and economy as a whole. Why? Because, they have it in their clout to recoil the material resources like taxes, money, jobs, etc from society.
Several occurrences took place which have led to the concept of Sport Globalization.
  • The first point to remember is that 'modern sport' developed first in Britain.
  • A process emerged which saw the player, viewer as the consumers of 'thin on the ground' resources, and in some standpoints, the exterminators of the resources.
  • The last quarter of the 19th century, spotted the surfacing of sport, the development of matches among national teams, the manifestation of International Sport Bodies,  the appearance of worldwide contests like Olympics, etc.
  • The 20th century witnessed the West regulating the area of play, sports bodies and the surplus value linked with sporting events.
  • Then, sports like baseball, basketball, ice-hockey,etc. stretched to those places, who were much more centrally associated to the American orb of mastery.
  • The TV broadcasting of athletic events, during the late 20th century, has switched sport into huge business. Broadcasting rights, sponsorship, merchandising, etc play a vital job in a nation's policy.
I'll stop here for today. There are numerous points and references which I can give about the Globalisation of sports and the impact on politics, economics, etc. But, tonight's blog was to introduce you all to this topic.
And, I'll write in more details in upcoming editions of BM.
Thanks for Reading.

Blogging Matters!!! : Golf - The Elitist Image Deficit

Day 19.

Yes, a fine class we had today and a fine fettle discussion ensued on varying topics, most prominent being Golf. A burning question emerged in my mind and I thought of writing it down for you readers.
I am talking about the "Elitist Image Deficit" of the sport of golf.
Now most of you may be aware of Golf but still, I'll just delineate it for a better understanding -
Golf - an outdoor game in which the players use special clubs (golf clubs) to try and hit a ball with as few strokes as possible into each of 9 or 18 holes. (Webster's Dictionary).
Is golf meant for elites ? Does this image of golf, hurt its popularity and acceptance among the common people? Will this deficit truncate? Well, let's find out the answers -
Golf for Elites : -

  • Golf today and even in the past has always been marked as a sport of 'social status'.

  • It is extremely arduous to say that golf is a controlled sport or dynamic sport. Many people call it the sport for 'lazy people'.

  • Today golf is seen as the game of Elite and top-notch businessmen. It is also called a Managerial sport.

  • Even the golf-equipment has evolved in its standard operating procedure as well as sophistication.

  • A complete market has developed from clubs to golf balls, golf carts, shoes, tees, etc.
Golf for Managers (Managerial Sport) : -

  • Scads of American schools, today have totted up the game of golf in their management syllabus.

  • There is a stereotype that, 'rich business people love golf'. I reckon that today, golf has become a medium to achieve other gains. Hence, the concept of Corporate Golf has developed.

  • These days business is also done on a golf course. A lot of companies make use of golf to 'Entertain' or get customers, or to erect their brand.

  • These corporate golf events are assisting the workers of a company in ensconcing novel corporate coherences.

  • But, at the same time these managerial/corporate events are very up-market.
The switching scenario : -

  • As we are cognizant, that today, golf is becoming an expeditiously growing sport in India, it is also swelling in terms of reward money, and the international winners from India and abroad.

  • Recently, both Asian Tour, as well as European Tour revealed their partnership in major Indian golf events.

  • People are realising that, a golden chance has come up in the form of Olympics 2016, in which golf has been totted up, which in turn can help in its popularity amongst the common men.

  • There is also a parley going on, which if successful can help the private sector join hands with the public sector to show live golf tournaments.
Conclusion : -

  • To conclude things, I would like to asseverate that I was just presenting the facts which have stereotyped the sport of golf. My idea was to bring forth the Managerial/Elite side of the game. And, I know very well, that my points can be argued as I know golf is not really a game just for the elites.

  • I mean people can pay about $80 on 18 holes for their 'entertainment'. Even the local golf courses have minimal fees today on coaching. So, golf is for anyone who takes delight in sport.

  • Also, today with the steadily emerging golf courses, the game is flexibly available and affordable to different social classes with different revenue levels.
Thanks for Reading.

Blogging Matters!!! : Sports - The Regulation Cacoethes

Day 18.

Hello, my Internet Reading Community and like I told you yesterday that I will bring up the topic of Sports Regulation in BM. Well, here I am and tonight we'll take a look at what's so engrossing about the Regulation side of Sports, that our Authorities have kept Development under 'glass-ceiling'.
  • Regulation : A rule or directive made and maintained by an authority. (Oxford Dictionary).
  • There are many things to discuss on this topic, but let me start things with BCCI (Board Of Control For Cricket In India).
  • The BCCI is a Regulatory and Development Authority. By Regulation it means to regulate the sports. Sport also has Value. Right now in India , the focus is entirely on physical activity. For eg; SAI does not focuses on Management. Except for Cricket, which has an organised body.
  • Regulation means to follow. There is no regulatory compliance in big institutions, you have guidelines. Every Federation has the cardinal province of Regulation & Development (R&D).
  • The BCCI forms an autonomy, they are self-funded. The other authorities are funded by the Government.
Now, another topic to discuss Regulation is seeing it through the NSDB (National Sports Development Bill).
  • We understand that the BCCI is trying to regulate sports . The NSDB calls for transparency via Right to Information (RTI) Act. The foremost design of RTI is 'to be answerable'.
  • The BCCI is an asset, a big one. They say that why should we come under the direct control of GOI. Accountability is there only, when there is transparency. So, the BCCI is not only a sporting body, it's a 'political hub'.
  • People are realising that the biggest merit in favor of NSDB is that it asks for more transparency. There are many actions taken by BCCI which are questionable. For eg;  Sometimes a certain player gets selected for a big tournament, even though he has performed mediocrely in his local or practice matches, needs to be made public.
  • The Regulation side of the NSDB also calls for 25% reservation for sportsmen in a body, who will manage/regulate a specific sport.
There are other +ve's and -ve's of NSDB, which I will address some other day. My purpose was to bring forth the irresistible urge of our authorities to Regulate the sports. Today nobody upholds complete statutory 'regulation' of sports. An average fan today believes that sports have a proper place in the public, hence it is a public issue, whereas an average geezer wants the Government to meddle in sport.
  • Another thing which I reckon has to be made transparent, is that the statute should approve of the rules that a sport has. As the structure that has been laid down by Authorities could be set up around gamecocks fighting. And, even though if all the norms are pursued meticulously, in India at least, no one is going to give heed to the statute.
That's all I could "Regulate" and "Develop" things for you guys today. And, like I said earlier, I'll be taking up the mammoth task of breaking down the NSDB '11, in detail, but later. So, please read, analyse and give your comments/response/ even criticism if you may................... Thanks for Reading.

Thought Of The Day : - "The good that you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;......................Do good anyway."
P.S. - Today (21st Sept.) is World Alzheimer's Day..... an important day across the globe. So, raise awareness for this disease and honor this day.
