Blogging Matters : Recipe For A Perfect Disaster

Day 6.

Hello folks. Today we will be looking at the top 6 reasons for India's disastrous fall from No.1 ranking at the hands of England.
Now, before I make a description of the 6 ingredients for this perfect disaster, I would just like to say that I'll be focusing on the Economic and Marketing side of Team India , than the bio mechanics of Cricket.
Let's go to the root first i.e. the BCCI Schedule. India played the ICC Cricket World Cup (Feb-March), then IPL (Apr-May), then went to West Indies (June), then went to England for a complete annihilation which is still under process. The 6 factors are as follows :-

1.) Injury- When England travels to Australia, they play about 5 practice matches of 3-5 days. There are no Checks and Balances for Team India. When you play a pratice match its equivalent to a camp. If you make Zaheer Khan play a practice match and he gets injured , you'll know your star bowler is not fit for the International matches.
2.) Fatigue - It is not easy for a player who plays ODI's to play Tests. The approach, field standards are differnt. More stamina is required in Tests than ODI's.
3.)Retirement - Every Selector or Board Of Selectors have to see the senior players . They have to get the hang of the intentions, priorities of senior players like Sachin, Sehwag, Dravid, etc.The Selectors didn't select Dravid for the ODI's , but they called him when someone got injured.. In return, Dravid announced his retirement from the ODI's.
4.) Over- Confidence - India has been struggling since the past 10 months or so. Dhoni struggled in South Africa, then in West Indies. They, then went straight to England thinking that they might get past through the Britishers as well. But, the results are in front of us.
5.) Environment - As I said earlier, you need to play local practice games. They help you in getting used to the Environment. Although, you don't have sponsors or ads for it , but they are very vital.
6.) Money - The Commercial Value of ODI and T-20 is different from Test Cricket. They have signed and invested in shorter form of the game. However, Cricket, no doubt, is better commercialised in India than the United Kingdom.
Its very essential for the BCCI to focus on the Development of the game of Cricket. Right now our Sports Authorities are not interested in Development but in Regulation. It's very important to understand the expectation of authorities. There is a concept of Micromanagement and Development is Macro management. So even under the Development phase you have problems like these.
If the teachings  from this English visit are entrusted to the trashbox of history (once the team gets back to its winning ways), it will be an occasion lost once more.
