Cracking the whip, BCCI today terminated the contract of IPL franchise Kochi Tuskers Kerela for non payment of bank guarantee, thus abruptly ending the controversial Kerela's team association with the cash-rich league after just one year.
The decision to terminate Kochi franchise was taken at BCCI's Annual General Meeting here today, in which the new office bearers of the board were also elected.
"Because of irremediable breach commited by kochi franchise, the BCCI has decided to encash the bank gurantee in their possession and also terminate the franchise." NEW BCCI presidend N.shrinivasan told.
Asked if BCCI would reconsider such a decision and give franchise a chance to return, Shrinivasan bluntly rejected such a suggestion.
therefore the total number of teams that will play in IPL is 9 and not 10...
