Premier stays, CWG merchandising to launch 31 Aug/Sportzpower

NEW DELHI: Premier Brands, which had threatened to pull the plug on its licensing and merchandising deal for the Commonwealth Games due to the shambolic functioning of the organising committee, now confirms that it will honour its commitment, despite the projected loss it would incur.

Suresh Kumar, chairman, Premier Brands confirmed to SportzPower: “Yes, we are now staying with merchandising and licensing for the Games and August 31 is the official date for launching.”
Asked whether this time the date is final – the formal launch has been postponed four times in the past Kumar stressed, “Yes, yes this time it is 100 per cent confirmed that on August 31 we will be officially launching the programme.”Kumar, however, refused to offer any comment as to whether the terms of the deal had been reworked, saying: “We can’t disclose any financial details right now. For that you can ask the OC.
"One thing is clear, that there is revenue loss in respect of our expectations, but we are committed to work for the Games.“All other things are already finalized and we are working according to the same module.”
