Report on Fandamentals and Origin of Economics
What Economics is all about and where did it originate from? This was the first question asked by Arjun sir to every one of us , to which none of us had an exactly correct answer.... :)
SOCIAL SCIENCE was the word he actually was lookin for. ECONOMICS originated from Social Science, which was also the origin of Human Society Development, which then gave birth to MARKETING.
HE told us about what actually Social Science is made up of. Social Science basically has 3 aspects:
- Institutions
- Relationships
- Ideas
Sir also discussed about "CONCESSION"
WHAT IS CONCESSION?
Concession is a way through which both, the PUBLIC SECTOR and the PRIVATE SECTOR earn profit by working together on a particular project, under certain rules and regulations.
Under ECONOMICS he discussed various topics like:
- PRODUCTION
- DISTRIBUTION
- EXCHANGE
- CONSUMPTION
Sir also told us about the different types of Consumers, which are as follows:
- Individual
- Group
- Business
- Government
In the last I just want to mention 1 thing which actually was quite surprising:
ARJUN SIR DID NOT, EVEN FOR A SINGLE MINUTE, BEHAVE LIKE HE ACTUALLY DOES........ :):)....... HE WAS NOT AT ALL STRICT THAT DAY :):)

New Zealand Chef de Mission for the Delhi Commonwealth Games, Dave Currie, today said the event may be called off if the concerns regarding the Athletes Village are not addressed at the earliest. Currie, who is in Delhi as part of an advance party, raised serious concerns regarding the residential zone of the Games Village, saying the 3-14 October mega-event faces the risk of cancellation if the living conditions are not improved before the arrival of the first batch of athletes on Thursday.
.
‘There are some realities, I guess, that if the village is not ready and athletes can’t come then obviously the implications of that are it is not going to happen. If the village isn’t ready, the athletes can’t arrive,’ Currie was quoted as saying by the New Zealand media.‘It’s not our decision. We’re not saying we’re not coming or the country’s not coming. What we’re saying is they’ve got a real challenge with the village and they need to take urgent attention to address it,’ he added.
COLOUR PSYHCOLOGY!!
Colors, like features, follow the changes of the emotions. - Pablo Picasso
Color
While perceptions of color are somewhat subjective, there are some color effects that have universal meaning. Colors in the red area of the color spectrum are known as warm colors and include red, orange and yellow. These warm colors evoke emotions ranging from feelings of warmth and comfort to feelings of anger and hostility.
Colors on the blue side of the spectrum are known as cool colors and include blue, purple and green. These colors are often described as calm, but can also call to mind feelings of sadness or indifference.
Color Psychology as Therapy
Several ancient cultures, including the Egyptians and Chinese, practiced chromotherapy, or using colors to heal. Chromotherapy is sometimes referred to as light therapy or colourology and is still used today as a holistic or alternative treatment.
In this treatment:
- Red was used to stimulate the body and mind and to increase circulation.
- Yellow was thought to stimulate the nerves and purify the body.
- Orange was used to heal the lungs and to increase energy levels.
- Blue was believed to soothe illnesses and treat pain.
- Indigo shades were thought to alleviate skin problems.
Most psychologists view color therapy with skepticism and point out that the supposed effects of color have been exaggerated. Colors also have different meanings in different cultures. Research has demonstrated in many cases that the mood-altering effects of color may only be temporary. A blue room may initially cause feelings of calm, but the effect dissipates after a short period.

False Ceiling Collapses...:(
This only adds to the mounting embarrassments of the Delhi Games. Even as the international delegates slammed the Organising Committee for the shoddy work at the Games Village, the under construction bridge at the stadium collapsed on Sep 22 afternoon raising further concerns over infrastructure.
As many as 23 people were injured in the collapse of the bridge over the stadium parking lot that was meant for pedestrians to move from one end of the stadium to other without disrupting vehicular movement.
PNR Infra was handling the construction of the overbridge. Public Works Department of Delhi government has ordered an inquiry into the incident.

Sports Marketing in India
India first experienced sports marketing on a grand scale when the late Mark Mascarenhas & World Tel signed Sachin Tendulkar for a whopping $ 1 billion way back in 1996. It was the first time that Indian sports landscape had an experience with sports marketing at this price point.
Sports marketing in India has evolved over the years. However compared to international opportunities in sports marketing, the opportunities in India are restricted to organizing events, selling sponsorships & ads for the sports properties & individuals. These restricted opportunities in sports marketing can be largely attributed to the role played by various governing bodies in India. However for the first time, in form of Indian Premier League ( IPL ) Indian sports in any form has seen participation from independent entities who have invested heavily in the game . IPL has brought into vogue many new aspects of sports marketing. We now see cricketing teams advertising across mediums, merchandise created for fans to buy. Teams are putting in efforts to create a connect with the fans through various other initiatives & contests.
The nascent nature of sports marketing in the country has lead to traditional agencies trying to fill in to the role that is played by sports marketing agencies internationally. Therefore we have advertising agencies creating brand identities for sports teams in India without any prior experience. We have independent sports agents that are creating a vision statement for the game when there core competency is in managing player endorsements. We have team owners taking over the ownership of setting up their sports brands without any inputs from international consultants.
Indian sports industry is worth $ 4-5 billion currently. The huge population of over a billion people in India can increase the size of the industry multi fold in next few years. This is a reason that is strong enough for the stake holders to move up the value chain and offer an integrated approach to the domain of sports marketing.
It will not be long before we see an advent of niche international sports consultants tapping into the Indian sports marketing pie.

Test Championship moves a step closer
The proposed format for Test cricket will have the Future Tours Programme (FTP) consist of a Test league running over four years with the top four teams at the end of each period qualifying for a play-off event. The first play-off is scheduled for 2013, the same year England are due to host the Ashes, and Lord's is believed to be the favoured venue for the final.
In a wide-ranging proposal for the redrawing of one-day cricket, a new league - mirroring the existing team rankings - would be introduced, starting in April 2011 and running over four years to culminate in the crowning of the first ODI league champion in April 2014.
The league would run separately from World Cup which, as the ICC's flagship event, the CEC suggests reducing to 10 teams for the 2015 event. The 2011 World Cup, to be held in India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, will include 14 countries and run from February 19 to April 2. The lengthy tournament is itself a smaller version than the 2007 event, which was widely criticised for including 16 sides and taking too long.
Given the success of smaller nations like Netherlands and Afghanistan in Twenty20 cricket the CEC recommends expanding the World Twenty20 to include 16 teams from the 2012 tournament, due to be staged in Sri Lanka, with the women's event continuing to run alongside. There should also be a Twenty20 league table as soon as possible, the CEC added.
"Restructuring international cricket is a significant strategic challenge and one that must be dealt with," Haroon Lorgat, the ICC chief executive, said "I am grateful to the CEC and its working group for making such far-reaching proposals to tackle this important issue.
"Achieving balance and unanimous agreement is not easy but it is a very important piece of work that requires a strategic response. The holistic set of proposals, especially introducing more meaningful context, means we now have the potential to follow international cricket that is even more exciting.
"Protecting and promoting all three formats at international level is viable and I believe the CEC has shown itself to be forward thinking in tackling the challenges. I am now encouraged to engage with the ICC executive board to consider these proposals as soon as possible."
During a two-day meeting in Cape Town the CEC also discussed bad light, which is now at the sole discretion of the on-field umpires, and said players should only leave the field if conditions are dangerous and shouldn't go off if floodlights are used even when shadows appear from the artificial light.
"There is a clear instruction to match officials that the players should only go off the field when conditions are considered dangerous or unreasonable," Dave Richardson, ICC's general manager of cricket, said. "In addition, players should not go off the field when the ground floodlights are switched on and these were deemed before the series to be adequate."

PRESENTING A POSITIVE PICTURE
After a series of controversies, the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (OC) on Thursday presented a positive picture of the Games by springing many pleasant surprises during a ‘guided tour' for the media to witness the ‘soft' opening of the Games Village.
Among the many surprises, the training centre, with practice facilities for athletes in four disciplines, was quite prominent. The modern training venue — with facilities for athletics, weightlifting, wrestling and aquatics — boasts of infrastructure of international standards.
The picturesque athletics arena has a synthetic track as well as a throw field. The arena, equipped with floodlights, can be used for any State or National-level meet after the Games. On one side of the track, there is a gallery with a facility to accommodate 1,086 people.
OC Chairman Suresh Kalmadi asserted that the athletes would love the training centre because of its proximity to the Village. “These are wonderful training areas. You do not (normally) find training venues inside the Games Village,” Kalmadi said.
The main advantage of a training centre inside the Village is that the athletes can train without security concerns.

The Common Wealth Games Theme Song Release-It’s Truly Worth The Wait
Rahman crooned the song ‘Khelo, jeeyo, hey-o , let’s go’. Just in two hours of the release the song became an instant hit and was downloaded more than 7,000 times. This was a sigh of relief for Suresh Kalmadi and organization Committee as for them at least something was right!
This is what Rahman has to say about the song, ‘I have been working on this song for past six months and its final tweaking was at night before the release. The song is mostly in Hindi and brings out the spirit of Commonwealth Games 2010.
