Mass Communication and Journalism are very closely linked to the world of sports. It is therefore important to know this side of the sports industry as well. So, I'll try and explain briefly these components of the sports industry in tonight's blog.
Mass Communication and Journalism are very closely linked to the world of sports. It is therefore important to know this side of the sports industry as well. So, I'll try and explain briefly these components of the sports industry in tonight's blog.
- If I want to convey my message to a larger audience in the country, mass communication and journalism is an important area. Mass communication as the term suggests is all about communication with the masses, with the people instead of communication with a few individuals. To understand the difference between mass communication and journalism, it's important to look at the definitions of the two.
- Mass Communication: is the term used to describe the academic study of the various means by which individuals and entities relay information through mass media to large segments of the population at the same time. It is usually understood to relate to newspaper and magazine publishing, radio, television and film, as these are both for disseminating news and for advertising.
- Now, let's look at the definition of journalism. Journalism: the activity or profession of writing for newspapers or magazines or of broadcasting news on radio or television. (Oxford Dictionary). In other words the entire process of news collection to news dissemination is what journalism is all about.
- When you are interviewing a sportsperson, a cricketer, you should know his performance in both Indian and International context, his batting techniques, his bowling skills, etc. Sports is not just sports. According to the need of time, philosophies emanate.
