AMBUSH MARKETING: 2012 LONDON Olympics will be most heavily protected

Burger King, Barclaycard, Unilever and many other international brands will find their marketing activity facing unprecedented levels of scrunity around LONDON 2012 Olympic games, as the organiser seek to stamp out AMBUSH MARKETING.
Expert believe that the event will be most heavily protected in history. However, the details on the non sponser brands' marketing is to be policed will not be finalised until the end of 2011, after the conclusion of a consultation due to launch in next few weeks.
The 12-week consultation which will form an amendment to the Olympic Act 2006, will seek feedback on potential regulation for "advertising and trading in open and public spaces" during the event. Although the timeframe is dependent on the level of public and indusrty responses, it is expected that a secondary regulation will pass through parliament and become law by the end of this year.

BCCI under RTI Act? Ball in Cabinet's court

In its bid to bring the cricket board (BCCI) under the umbrella of National Sports Federation and ensure transparency in functioning of all sports bodies, the sports ministry TODAY will be seeking the cabinet's nod of NATIONAL SPORTS (DEVELOPMENT) BILL 2011 in current session of the parliament.
The Bill which was prepared after receiving comments and suggestion from various stakeholders and public, seeks to have BCCI as an NSF and want it to function as "public authority" and "comply with the requirement specify in the RIGHT TO INFORMATION ACT.

lets see guys if the bill gets pass today or not.......

Cabinet take up s new sports bill

The Cabinet will take up a new Sports Bill on Tuesday, the proposed law will bring the richest sport body in the country - the Board of Control for cricket (BCCI) under government control.
India won the world cup 2011 - a feat which ensured that the BCCI continues to rake in billions of dollars, making it the richest sports body in the world. But it's also a body which remains covered in layers of non transparency, citing its charter, which makes it a private autonomous body. Now a new Sports Bill which is going to be brought up before the cabinet today aims to fix the problem.
the Bill will make it mandatory for all cricket associations including the BCCI to adhere to those norms which have been marked out for other Olympic sports.
Random Doping tests, so far resisted by cricketers could be mandatory if the Bill is accepted.
Cricketing bodies will also have to submit details of their expenditure and earnings if the Bill becomes a law.
"This Bill is comprehensive, as I have always been saying. It includes the tenure norms, age norms, and also, all these sports federations must be considered as public authorities under the Right to Information Act. Besides, this draft Bill as we had circulated earlier, also has provision of Ombudsman," said Ajay Maken, Sports Minister.
But it is the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) officials who could be hurt the most by provisions of this Bill - VK Malhotra and Jagdish Tytler who have already served multiple terms as heads of sporting federations for more than a decade.
The Bill fixes the maximum terms for any sports official in any discipline at three. An upper age limit of 70 years has been fixed as well.
It is also proposing a reservation of 25 per cent to former sportsmen in associations of that particular sport.
There is a big question mark though on whether this Bill will actually be accepted to the political class. During the deliberations, many leaders who double up as sports officials took a position against the Bill. The final decision could well be upto the Prime Minister himself.

Why Sports Bill was rejected?? " When Sports Meets Politics"

Wanna!!! Know the Reasons why the National Sports Bill 2011 was rejected by Government of India
National Sports Bill 2011 Bill or law is good law proposed by Ajay Makan. The Union Cabinet rejected Mr Maken's new Sports Bill.
Ajay Makan is the sports Minister of India.
Ajay Makan needs the public support Please support Ajay Makan so he can make a good bill into a law.
It will bring accountability and transparency in sports. It will bring all sports organizations under Right to information act.

Most Important proposal in this law is the age.
Under this law BCCI will come under the Right to Information law.
This will allow every Indian to know about financial transactions of the BCCI.
Remember BCCI gets tax exemptions from Government of India.
Remember they use police service and they get land for the cricket grounds from the Government of India.
Thus they should come under right to information law.
T20 tournament – the Indian Premier League (IPL). The IPL is currently being investigated by multiple agencies and a parliamentary committee for tax evasion and foreign exchange violations.
Every Indian citizen has a right to know from where money is coming into IPL.

The another provision of this bill say that who head sports federations must not be older than 70.

I think 70 is too much 60 is perfect no one above the age of 60 should head the sports federations.

Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah, Congress minister of state Rajiv Shukla all are also leaders of sports bodies.
1. Sharad Pawar is the president of the ICC,
2. Farooq Abdullah is president of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association
3. Rajeev Shukla is a BCCI vice-president.

Sharad Pawar is 71 years old
Farooq Abdullah is 73 years old
Vilasrao Deshmukh is 66 years old.

Now I hope you got the idea why the National Sports Bill was rejected by Indian government.

Blogging Matters!!! : Sports - Let's Develop Them

Day 17.

Good evening friends. Today I will be taking up a very imperative subject i.e. 'Sports Development.'
There is another topic which is of equally pressing and that's the 'Regulation of Sports', but that's another topic for another day.
What do you understand by Sports?
Sport involves three things -
(1) Competition , (2) Physical Activity and (3) Skill.
If there are only 2 teams or 4 teams in a tournament, the competition is less, but, more teams increase competition. For example - English Premier League has many teams.
Sport is a very peculiar thing in India. It is not a National subject but, it's a State subject. And, as there so many priorities of the Government of India, that sport is not a priority of Central Government.
Sports Ministry is not seen as a very demanding Ministry.
Sport today is like a quick sand. Today, those who are running Sports as Federations have realised, that they have to work harder due to broadcasters.
The question arises how do we develop sports in India? The answer to this question came in the form of National Sports Development Bill 2011, which was proposed by Mr. Ajay Maken, who is managing Sports Ministry and Youth Affairs in the Central Government, however, the bill was rejected by the Cabinet and Mr. Maken was asked to reconsider or rework on the Bill. I will talk about the flaws in the Bill in another edition of BM.
Right now our Sports Authorities are not interested in Development, but in Regulation. It is very portentous to understand the expectation of Authorities. For egIf a teacher is teaching, a student has to understand the expectations of that teacher. If the student understands, he'll be more dynamic.
Research is the first step in the Development process. The more sophisticated a sport becomes, the more research you have to do. Development takes a lot of hard work. For eg - To teach someone is not easy, you are giving your time and energy in developing a student, but to reject someone from teaching is easy.
The Sports Development should be seen as thorough all-encompassing operation that engrosses the wide area of - Organisations, Agencies, Policy Makers and Participants.
Mass Participation is another important dimension. To quite an extent, tensions are exist between different institutions and actors. These tensions come up from policies, practices and conflicting discourses. Those incharge of Sports Development must bring up better and more efficacious methods of developing interest and participation in sports.
I will stop here for today. So, everyone please comment on the above blog and give your suggestions on the ways to develop sports like Sport Development should commence at the grass root level, athletes should be carefully observed ( prevent doping), for their development and sports in general, etc, etc.
Thank you for Reading.

Thought Of The Day : - "What you spend years developing, someone could destroy overnight; ...........Develop anyway."

FICCI Came To SEM Khalsa

Today , The head of Sports and Youth Affairs of FICCI , Mr.Rajpal Singh spared his valuable time and discussed with us "National Sports Development Bill 2011" alongwith an open-query session. Our class began with the salient features of NSDB 2011 covering details of all of the 12 chapters of the bill. He even showed us the Prliminary Draft Of the bill. He explained the necessity of the bill over the already existg sports policy as the bill is a compulsary enforceable legal document not only recommendatory like a policy. The key issues discussed were:

1. Four Pillars of Indian sports and creation of Sports Council.

2. Accountability and Transparency in Sports

3. Role of NSF ( National Sports Federations mainly BCCI)

4.Basis of recognizing Federations

5. Eligibility Criterions ( Tenure , age limit etc.)

6. Doping issues

7. Major Negatives of NSDB 2011. ( No Development Clause in Development bill but only regulation)

8. RTI and BCCI

9. Public Private Partnership Model in Sports

10. Exemptions and Demands of Sports lke any other sector.

Research which he is pursuing now was very shocking . (There is a lack of 25 lac sports experts still in India , Athletic Development Programme , Multi Level Coaching , Sports Science Experts and Other Imp. Sports Statistics) which in a way was a great solution for under-development of sports in India.

The best thing we came to learn that This bill is not against Federations but against Individuals.

This person had a great passion for sports and this passion had lead to a stage that -"Now there is a separate CSR for sports as a very imp. industry in FICCI only Becuase of Him."

Being an extrovert , his open mindedness and thinking about sports enlightened us with many fantabulous solutions to the problem and made us feel more motivated for the all round development of sports as a Industry in India in the coming calender........

The Biggest Exposure , we are going to get right after one month at The International Global Sports Summit organized by FICCI , is in my words a gift to all of us given by Mr. Rajpal Singh who in a minute invited us a special guest @ the summit without the participation fee of 10,000INR.
