Blogging Matters!!! : Nature's Game - 5 Most Tragic Deaths Of Sport Player/Teams (1990-2011)

Day 8.

Whom the heart of  man shuts out, Sometimes the heart of God takes in, And fences them all round about, With silence 'mid the world's loud din.
Guys, if you can recall, a couple of days back, I talked about the dolorous death of a Russian Ice Hockey team and I also gave an indication of a blog coming on this topic. Well, here I am today, talking about the most lamentable demise of sport team/players over the past decades. Before, I move any further let me state that in no way or shape I am undermining the deaths of a king or a pauper. But, right now my attention is on the loss the Sporting world has felt due to the decease of Sport Personalities
So let's begin with our list -
  1. The Lokomotiv Yaroslavi Hockey Team : - One of the worst cases in world history. The plane on September 7, 2011, engulfed the entire Ice Hockey Team of Russia. Of the 45 people on board, there were 37 people of the Lokomotiv Hockey Team. Of those 37, 26 were Players, the rest 11 included Coach, Administrator, etc. This crash is being regarded as the most pessimal crashes in history, involving a Sports team and I also reckon that never have I read or head of so many players dying at one point. Sad, but true.
  2. Nate Fleming and Daniel Lawson :- On Jan 27, 2001, a plane carrying Players and Six Officials of the Oklahoma's State Men's Basketball Team went down in Byers, Colorado. Daniel Lawson,21 was a junior guard while Nate Fleming,20 was a freshman guard. Both these kids had just started getting the taste of success when they met this distressing face of their fates. The 6 official killed in this crash include the Director of Basketball Operations, Commentator, etc. So, a big setback to the fans.
  3. Andres Escobar : - Andres Escobar,27, was a Colombian Footballer. He was shot and killed in Medellin,Colombia, in July 1994. It is substantially assumed that he was put to death as a follow-up of his own goal in the 1994 World Cup. He is best known for scoring with headers and became a professional football player in 1988. Even today, he is held in the highest esteem by his Colombian fans and football lovers around the globe.
  4. Zambian Soccer Team :- April 28, 1993. Another tragic case of mass elimination of players, is the infamous crash of the Zambian Soccer Team, whose 18 players and 5 officials died when a military aircraft taking them to a World Cup qualifying match, crashed into the sea. The members of this team were buried in what was later known as 'Heroes Acre, in Lusaka. 23 people, 23 lives. Gone in an instant.
  5. Steve Olin and Tim Crews : - Steve Olin,27 and Tim Crews,31 were teammates in Cleveland's bullpen. In March 22, 1993, they were killed in a boating tragedy on Little Lake Nellie in Florida. In 195 games, played Olin pitched 273 innings and posted a win-loss record of 16-19. In 283 games, played by Timothy Crews, he was 11-13. This accident affected the MLB (Major League Baseball) and the fans like nothing else had ever occurred. For some players and coaches, the ache lingers even today.
I am sure there are several other cases in history where sport personnel's have lost their lives. For example, the crash of Old Christians Rugby Union Club (1972), death of 8 members of Manchester United Football Club (1958), and the list goes on and on. I selected the deaths from 1990 - 2011, which formed the history that we know today. My other purpose to write this blog was to let people know that these people are estimable of being known.
Life is perpetual, and love is imperishable, and death is only a view, and a view is nothing save the curb of our vision.
Thanks for Reading.
