Sportzpower conducted a seminar titled-INDIAN GOLF FORUM 2011' to have the discussions on various aspects of Golf by various experts of Golfing fraternity and media persons.The seminar was attended by a lot of Golf enthusiasts and general viewers.The morning session of the event saw the addresses made by HS Kingra,Prakash Bhandari and Desh Deepak Verma-DIRECTOR GENERAL,SPORTS AUTHORITY OF INDIA.Mr. Verma told about the various steps taken by by SAI to promote Golf in India.He also added that SAI would help the players to achieve excellence and thus facilitate them to win medals in olympics.V Krishnaswamy-eminent Golf commentator and writer also presented his speech in which he informed about the inclusion of Golf in 2016, Rio De Jenario Olympics.He also said that 2016 Olympics could become a catalyst to develop Golf in India if we could win a medal there.
The next session was moderated by HS Kingra and the panelists included Rajiv Talwar,Madhukar Chaturvedi,Jhanjha Tripathy,Rakesh Purohit and Brigadier Varinder Kumar.In this session the experts suggested the ways to improve the Golfing infrastructure in the country.
Digraj Singh was the moderator of the next session which had Romit Bose,Vandana Aggarwal,Htme Hla Hanand Rishi Narain as its panelists.The session revolved around the causes of the absence of Golf Coaches.Romit Bose-himself a prominent coach-described the indifferent attitude of the Government towards the coaches.This was the major cause behind the coaching not becoming a lucrative profession according to him.Htme Hla Han suggested that coaches could be funded by corporate houses in order to make them work more efficiently.
The event also witnessed the presence of Director of Professional Golf Tour of India[PGTI] Mr. Padamjit sandhu.According to him India golfers stand a good chance to qualify for the 2016 olympics but winning a medal would be a tough task.Sandhu further stated about a recent sample study conducted by PGTI that gave him the confidence that India Golfers on the basis of their rankings would comfortably qualify for 2016 Olympics.
Romit Bose also leveraged what Mr. Sandhu said.He said India's back of line was very strong.He,however,was pessimistic about the chances of a medal.
Brother, I beg to differ from your concluded statement,"He,however,was pessimistic about the chances of a medal." If you read my blog, I have written verbatim, what Mr. Bose said and he said he currently knows 17 players like Himmat Rai who will surely go to 2016 Olymics. And, he was uite optimistic of that.In fact, his trust in players like Himmat Rai is proving correct as Himmat Rai won his First Asian Title,this past Sunday.
